Professional biography

Prof. Dr. Sabine Schiffer heads the Institut für Medienverantwortung (IMV), which she founded in 2005. Her work focuses on media responsibility, discourse analysis and the relationship between media and politics, including reporting on migration and foreign affairs.

She earned her doctorate in 2004 with research on the representation of Islam in German media. Her teaching has included the International Media Studies programme at Deutsche Welle Akademie. From 2006 to 2009, she served on the media and integration commission of the German Islam Conference.
